Chocolate Covered Oreos

When I was a little girl my dad constantly brought home a box of cookies that was essentially an oreo covered in chocolate. They were called mint something or others so there was a hint of mint in them somewhere. They weren't like your normal boxed cookies they each had their own compartment. They were delicious. I have not seem them in the stores in years. Of course.

But last Christmas when my sister game me Oreos she had hand dipped they tasted pretty close to those cookies I loved as a child. When I saw mint Oreos I knew I had to try to make my own. As you can see I lost my patience for dipping and did a chocolate drizzle instead. Much easier and less time consuming.

Sprinkles make everything better!

The Best Camo Cupcakes

There are quite a few different ways to make camp cupcakes which may or may not surprise you. I made these for my "hunter" husbands birthday, but they would also be really cute for a little boys camp themed party.

I just purchased a white box cake mix from the store and followed the directions on the back until I had my white mix. Then separate the mix into three different bowls. Leave one white. Use food coloring to color the other black (you can control how dark it gets) and make the final bowl green.

I made cupcakes so I lined the tin with cupcake liners and then using a table spoon placed green in several of the cups. Then I went back and added black to a few cups and some black over the green. I did the same with white and just kept alternating colors until the cups were as full as they needed to be.

This is what it looked like before going into the oven.

Fresh from the oven. Camo Cupcakes. Love it!

I finished mine off with a green frosting that I ended up not loving. If I were to do it again I would do chocolate frosting. The husband doesn't like chocolate frosting so thats why the green. But chocolate would be great as it looks like "mud". Really it is all in your preference. Of course finish with sprinkles of your choice. Good luck. I'm going to try this again in the next few days but with red, white, and blue for the 4th of July. Hopefully that turns out!
